Glen Dale Water Project Funded17 May, 2009, 10:12 am
Congressman Alan B. Mollohan announced that the City of Glen Dale will receive $310,000 to help bring public drinking water to residents living along Little Grave Creek.
GLEN DALE, WV -- Mollohan inserted the grant into the annual appropriations for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), which was signed into law earlier this year as part of the fiscal year 2009 Omnibus Appropriatons Act.
“I was pleased to work with the City of Glen Dale and the Marshall County Commission on this important addition to the water system,” Mollohan said. “This project will bring public drinking water to approximately 63 new households and also improve water pressure to existing customers.” As part of the project, a new 8-inch waterline will replace old 4-inch and 6-inch lines that are prone to leaking.
“The City of Glen Dale is proud to be able to assist the residents outside the corporate limits to be able to have safe drinking water for their homes as well as for fire protection,” said Glen Dale Mayor David Blazer. “On behalf of the City I would like to thank Congressman Mollohan for his assistance and dedication to this project. Driver Crashes Into House Alcohol suspected in wreck that left man homeless28 January, 2009, 06:11 pm
By ANNIE DIMMICK POSTED: January 27, 2009
Alcohol apparently was the cause of a Monday morning accident that put the lives of two men in danger and left one homeless.
According to Marshall County sheriff's Chief Deputy Kevin Cecil, Zack Fecat, 29, of Glen Dale had a blood-alcohol content more than two-and-a-half times the legal limit when his truck crashed into the 1121 Grandview Road home of Eric Robbins at 4:10 a.m. Monday.
The home is located about a half-mile outside Glen Dale's city limits, along W.Va. 86.
Cecil said Fecat was driving east on the road when he lost control of the car, went off the road and struck Robbins' parked car outside the residence. Cecil said the truck bounced off the car and struck the residence, causing a portion of the second floor to collapse.
"He did extensive damage to the house," Cecil said. "He took out the whole corner of the house."
Robbins was sleeping inside the house at the time but was not injured, Cecil said. He said Fecat was treated at the scene for minor cuts and scrapes, was charged with DUI and several traffic violations and was released from custody on a citation. Fecat's ...
